• Programme work on ground and policy and advocacy development- how these link together and achieve change in the lives of the poor

Programme work on ground produce product and serviced that mitigate the poverty condition of target population; but such a mitigation would change the conditions of ignorance and conflict that generate such poverty unless policy and advocacy development, (usitilzing  ground work as good practice examples and generating alliances with different stakeholders), induce a strategic change in the social system and in the way the local stakeholders  understand and responds to the need and the rights of the poor.

When programmes and projects are based on the understanding of causes and effects of poverty, needs and rights of the poor people, they contribute to advocacy development in the following way:

• By revealing issues in which the voices of the poor need to be communicated to the policy and legislation makers and planners
• By identifying the causes and gaps in governance which reinforce poverty, thereby helping to develop advocacy initiatives accordingly
• By facilitating partnerships, coordination and networking that can help the poor have a stronger voice.
• identifying the areas in which we can build the capacity of the poor communities so that they can start advocacy initiatives
• by making national campaigns also more grounded in reality of poor communities
